Hey, do you want to do good things?

Mr.Newz Contributor

Some of you may have noticed that we left Facebook and wonder what is going on.

No, no one took our page down. No one is really strong enough (even in numbers) to do that. That isn't a brag, let's explain.

Over two years ago as some of you may know we created a news tool for someone. It didn't work out but we eventually found users who wanted to try having their own 'News Paper'. As they used it, we kept developing and got to the point where the system could contribute and be influenced by all the people who played 'newspaper' with it. It went through some pretty significant phases and had some major hold-ups.

The decision was made to evict all the participants who couldn't honor the fact that they were dealing with something influenced by their biases and behavior. The last year was spent on refining the model, it's abilities and the software on the backend. It now, has real promise at being the semi-autopilot news portal that provides everybit of the big-money print media experience without needing a room of hired people to run.

Currently we have a group of vested writers who have as much to gain as everyone else if it continues to be successful. This is why we had the social media departure. Despite the sometimes insane nature of the website, it never managed to get itself in any trouble. The problem lied within the Facebook page and the interactions with others. This was one of the only places where we let the short-interaction conservational model talk. We even had a little side gig selling the ability to tell Mr.Newz to say/respond in certain ways or post images to groups. It was great fun but ultimately not a way to convey an aura of seriousness. Mr.Newz had his social media taken away and was told to go back to work.

We watch the stats of the site, all users even base contributors have the ability to author, approve another person's work, including the stuff Mr.Newz writes and submits for review. It's still a dangerous proposition BUT who doesn't like a little danger?

This is our public call to you:

Do you still want to interact? Do you want to do more than read about the things going on and wonder why the cool thing you saw or heard is not being covered? You can as always message Mr.Newz through the site and it works just like it used to. We get messages everyday.

Elected or formally elected officials
Law Enforcement
Stay at homes
Students
Business Owners
Old Cranks
Trolls

You may not fit any of these catagories which is why you don't see the things you want on the site, you haven't come to talk to us.

Maybe you want to do more than just put a bug in the cool-news-toy-thing's ear. Do you want to write an article and stick your face and name on the article? Request an account and start writing. We won't gatekeep your opinion, infact one of your peers on the platform will read your article and THEY make the call if it goes to 'print'. Still kind of a dangerous move and probably not smart for a business making money.

Guess what?

We don't need money, infact the only people making money are the people writing the articles when they place their support details on their profile. It works and we had an author celebrate a 40 dollar tip for her snarky takes about Bloomington. Let's see Facebook do that without 4.5 million views on a single post.

So again the question, Do you want to do good things? Shrug off the completely suffocating blanket of attention-for-sale social media? Do you want some one to type xxxx County news and see that your home is more than some disgusting looking site with nothing but obituaries and arrest records? Come on in!

Let's continue to chip away at the dead newspaper model and build something that is alive and speaks to YOU..
